Welcome to Under One Roof, the home of heritage souvenirs that celebrate our country's rich history while preserving part of one of our most treasured Canadian symbols. Under One Roof is an initiative of the Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD). Proceeds from the sale of this product directly benefit people with diverse abilities.
History, Community, and Design
The items found here were crafted with the help of people with developmental disabilities and are manufactured using the original copper which covered the roofs of Canada's Parliament Buildings from 1918 to 1996. These small pieces of our history belong to all of us. A small but meaningful gift for family and friends. Made with attention to detail, by those that care.
History
The copper used for the maple leaf is the original copper which covered the roofs of Canada's Parliament Buildings for over 80 years! The original copper roof turned a pale green colour due to oxidization over time.
Community
Under One Roof is a social enterprise founded by the Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
The entire process is broken down, resulting in opportunities and meaningful work for people.
Design
Under One Roof's products are designed to reflect Canadian symbols and their history. In addition to our well-known collections, we are developing new designs, including earrings that are coming soon!
